Preparing to take the Philippine Nursing Board Examination

If you are contemplating on taking the board exam, listed below are requirements that you need.

1. Complete your scrubs:

5 Major Operation Scrubs
5 Minor Operation Scrubs
5 Delivery Room Handles
5 Delivery Room Assists
5 Cord Dresses

2. Visit your school registrar to see if you have completed your requirements:

ex. birth certificate, request for SO, school transcript of records, basically everything that needs to be done so that your papers are in order.

When preparing for the Philippine Board Exam, it is important that you understand that the board questions that are going to come out are the basic concept that you should know inorder to work as an entry level nurse. What are these concepts that you need to focus on, you might ask?

Community Health Nursing - vaccination schedules, communicable diseases, public health nurse, requirement to be a dean, clinical instructor, principles of home visit, and the bag technique. Good resource for this is the (DOH) Department of Health on Community Health Nursing in the Philippines.

Fundamentals of Nursing
Theorist like Lydia Hall, Nightingale, Orem, primary care, health care delivery system, maslow's , mode of transmission, risk factors
PreBoard Examination Questions

Nursing Research
Simple Sampling, Simple Stratefied Sample, Clustered, Snowballing, phases of research (design, operations,...)

Psychiatric Nursing
Therapeutic communications, defense/coping mechanisms, psychiatric drugs (1-3 questions only)

Maternal and Child Health Nursing
Pregnancy and common pregnancy-related complications, Labor Process, Hormones related with pregnancy, growth and development concepts (Freud, and other theorist).

Medical-Surgical Nursing
Review on the common diseases found primarily in the Philippines. Ex. Tuberculosis, Asthma, COPD, Malaria, Dengue, etc. Try to browse your Department of Health on Community Health Nursing in the Philippines book.
PreBoard Examination Questions

Nursing Ethics, Jurisprudence and Professional Adjustment
Theorist of Management, characteristics of a leader / manager, memories just the important republic acts like R.A. 9173, breast feeding act 7100, child abuse, clean air, nurse week, nutrition month.

I suggest that you buy Carl E. balita's Book, because it really help me so much. With regards to Ray Gapuz's book, im not so impress with it.
