Travelling Nurse: What does a Travelling Nurse do?

If you are a person who loves to travel, confident in your medical background and an outgoing personality; maybe, traveling nurse is the perfect job for you. In this job, you will have no chance for monotony and boredom because you will be constantly on the go. You will have a lot of adventure, gain a lot of experiences, met a lot of people, learn a lot of things

First and foremost let me define what is a traveling nurse? A traveling nurse is someone who journey a lot from one place to the other rendering nursing services to persons who is in need of his services be it a hospital or any health facilities. It is like a Freelance Nursing, which means you can pursue your profession without a long-term commitment to your employer.

Usually, the hourly earning of a Travelling Nurses ranges from $30 to $40 plus shift differentials for night’s shifts just check with your IRS guidelines. Take home pays that include daily allowances for food and incidental expenses, Insurance Benefits such as Medical and Life Insurances, Free Quality Housing, Tax free Travel Reimbursements and other Benefits. Some companies also offer free continuing education support.

How to becoming a Travelling Nurse?
First you must pass your NCLEX examinations and English Proficiency Test for foreign educated nurses. Be experienced for a minimum of one year in an area you plan to work to. If you want to work in the Pediatric, then gain a work experience in pediatric department. You must also be current in your immunization including recent Tuberculosis test. You must have a good Health examination stating that you are fit to do your entire nursing job. You must also be current in all your certifications such as ACLS, TNCC, CPR and sometimes PALS. Drug screenings is also required Criminal Background check and at least three solid references.

If you were able to comply all the needed requirements and really likes to travel a lot. Then this is the job for you -find an agency that is right for you. Compensations and benefits vary from one agency to the other so you have to make the perfect choice.
